JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – EKU's Liz Freihofer, West Georgia's Sydne Tolbert, FGCU's Sinai Douglas and North Alabama's Gabby Jackson claimed this week's Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Women's Basketball honors, announced Monday by the league office.
Freihofer and Tolbert shared this week's Player of the Week honors. Freihofer averaged 18.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in a pair of EKU wins. She started the weekend with a 26-point outburst against North Alabama, going 10-of-15 from the floor and 5-of-7 from 3-point range. She shot 59 percent from the floor on the weekend, and 64 percent from beyond the arc. Tolbert averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in two West Georgia wins. She was balanced over the weekend, scoring 19 point in each game while shooting 57 percent from the floor.
Douglas averaged 16.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in two wins for FGCU, earning Newcomer of the Week honors. She started the weekend with 24 points against Austin Peay, going 6-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Jackson earned Freshman of the Week after averaging 17.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game for North Alabama. She started the weekend with 13 points and 12 rebounds in a win against Bellarmine, Jackson closed the weekend with 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range, against EKU.
