Cross Country Weekly Awards - Oct. 1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –North Alabama, EKU and North Florida claimed this week's Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Men's Cross Country honors, while EKU, and North Alabama earned honors on the Women's side, announced Wednesday by the league office.

Brian Bett and Taha Er Raouy were named Player of the Week. Bett placed seventh in the Gans Creek Classic Open with a time of 23:49.9. His performance marked the fourth fastest time in school history. The sophomore bested competitors from Ohio State, Kansas, Michigan State and more. Er Raouy led the Colonels in 31st place, crossing the finish line at the 23:07.3 mark. His performance marked a new 8k personal best. The Colonels claimed a 17th-place overall finish. EKU's Brian Kimutai and North Florida's Parker Banzhaf were named Freshman of the Week. Kimutai finished 33rd for EKU in 23:08.05. In a field of 48 freshman, he was the third-highest finisher. Banzhaf was the fourth freshman to cross the finish line at the FSU XC Open at Apalachee Regional Park. The Florida native placed 20th-overall at the 25:23.2 mark, helping the Ospreys to a runner-up finish. 

Sandra Maiyo and Khadija Ennasri were named Player of the Week after both securing first-place finishes in their weekend events. Maiyo competed in the Gans Creek Classic and secured her second individual win of the sason with a 21:21.1 time. Her performance marks the second fastest 6k time in North Alabama history. Ennsari led the Colonels to a 1-2-3 finish in the Asbury Invitational in Wilmore, KY. The sophomore crossed the finish line at the 23:06.3 mark. Morgan Kobylinski was the second runner to complete the race. She recorded a 6k time of 24:03.13. The Colonels claimed a first-place overall finish ahead of Asbury, Maryville, IU Columbus and Kentucky State.
