ATLANTA – After helping North Alabama win the UNA Invitational last week, the Lions' Gracie Mathews (Runner) and Camille Etheridge (Freshman) claimed the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Cross Country weekly awards, which were announced Wednesday by the league office.
Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Gracie Mathews, North Alabama
Junior | Springville, Ala.
- First Career Runner of the Week award; third selection in program history for the Lions
- Earned her first collegiate win at the UNA Invitational this past Saturday
- Helped the Lions claim the meet trophy for the second consecutive year
- Posted a time of 18:16.11 for a new personal best; outran 46 other student-athletes
- Shaved off 26 seconds from last year's event time (bronze finish)
Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Week
Camille Etheridge, North Alabama
Freshman | Homewood, Ala.
- First Career Freshman of the Week honor; fifth acknowledgment for the North Alabama program
- Made her home debut at the UNA Invitational and placed 11th
- Crossed the finish line with a cumulative time of 19:39.1 in the event
- Enabled the Lions to put some cushion on the lead over West Florida
- Heads to the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala., on Friday
