EKU Hauls in Pair of Women's Cross Country Awards

ATLANTA – The EKU duo of Anouk van Gils (Runner) and Hannah Geisen (Freshman) heard their names called on Wednesday by the league office after the announcement of the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Cross Country weekly awards.

Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Anouk van Gils, EKU
Graduate Student | Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands

- First Career Runner of the Week honor; second nod in program history for the Colonels
- Opened the 2023 campaign with a victory in the EKU Triangular with a time of 14:14.00
- Outlasted runners from the SEC's Kentucky and the ACC's Louisville
- Bested the second-place finisher by 23 seconds en route to the individual title
- Looks to carry the winning momentum into the Mike and Mary Johnson Classic on Sept. 16

- Raced to a top-10 placement by outpacing runners from the SEC's Kentucky and the ACC's Louisville
- Finished seconds behind a pair of Wildcat runners for a potential top-five placement
- Joins the Colonels on Sept. 16 at to the Mike and Mary Johnson Classic
