Central Arkansas Lead Men, Women Following Day One of ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The opening day of the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Outdoor Track & Field Championships saw the Central Arkansas Bears take the lead in both the men’s and women’s fields at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

Starting with the men's hammer and javelin throw, UCA’s Jaden Schneeberger and Jeff King took first in the events, respectively, while Joia Perry got the women on the board with a new ASUN record in the women’s hammer throw with a mark of 63.71m.

West Georgia’s Carleigh Bynum took home first place in the women’s pole vault after a mark of 3.78m while men’s teammates Isaiah McMichael and Blake Davis snagged second and third, respectively, in the men’s high jump (2.06m, 2.03m). Jayvin Strouble from North Florida took the top spot in the high jump after a 2.09m mark.

In the men’s decathlon standings, the Bears currently hold the top three positions with Sloan Jones, Nathan Uptagrafft and Alexander Anderson. In the women’s heptathlon, Halle Perry from Queens holds a 157 point lead over Keirstin Moore of Central Arkansas.

In the final events of the day, Chase Atkins out of Lipscomb took the top spot in the men’s 10,000m with a final time of 30:11.14 while Ellie Brewer, Aly Negovetich and Abigail Horevay from Lipscomb took the top three spots in the women’s 10,000m. Both Brewer and Negovetich smashed a 15-year ASUN record with times of 34:44.10 and 34:52.37, respectively.
