DOTHAN, Ala. - The opening round of the Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Conference Women’s Golf Championship, the University of North Florida Ospreys came out from the tee box and controlled the course today, finishing 10 under par and clocking four players in the top five for individuals.
UNF’s Brianna Castaldi led the way for all players today, shooting a 67 and tying the ASUN Championship record for an opening round score. She along with teammate Ava Cottis (69) both recorded personal best scores today.
The Ospreys, who take an 11-stroke lead into tomorrow’s second round, currently hold four of the top five individual spots in Castaldi (1st), Cottis (2nd), Kaitlyn Schroeder (4th) and Braydn Smith (T5th).
FGCU carded a 289 (+1) first round that was just led by Lousiane Gauthier, Amelie Alcantara and Sydney Deal who all shot an even par. Lipscomb is not far behind the Eagles at 292 while Stetson and EKU round out the top five following day one.
The Bisons' Christina Surcey clocked into fourth place following today’s round after she shot two under on the back nine holes to finish with a 71 score.
Saturday’s second round will start at 8 a.m. CT and stagger between holes one and 10 until 9:35 a.m. CT. Results, leaderboards and tee times can all be found HERE.
