Bryant, Copeland & Fontana Secure Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

ATLANTA – Central Arkansas' Pietro Fontana (Player) joined the FGCU duo of Jonathan Bryant (Defensive Player) and Daniel Copeland (Goalkeeper) after the trio heard their names called on Tuesday afternoon following the league office's announcement of the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Soccer weekly honors.


Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Pietro Fontana, Central Arkansas

Sophomore | Defender | Trento, Italy
- Second Career ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honor; fourth overall acknowledgment for Central Arkansas
- Tied a program record with four goals against Queens, the first hat trick for UCA since 2019
- Holds the single-game mark for goals in a game by NCAA Division I players in 2023
- Currently ranks second in the country this season with seven goals
- Is tied at the top in conference leaders for goals (7) and points (15)

Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Jonathan Bryant, FGCU

Graduate | Defender | Trabuco Canyon, Calif
- First Career ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honor; 24th overall acknowledgment for FGCU
- Played strong defense to help the Eagles earn a 4-0 shutout victory against Stetson
- Suffocated the Hatters' offensive attack; they were held scoreless for the first time in four matches 
- Played all 90 minutes; scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute
- Helped the Eagles to second place in the ASUN Men's Soccer standings

Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
Daniel Copeland, FGCU
Sophomore | Goalkeeper | Margate, Fla.

- First Career ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week selection; third award in FGCU program history
- Made an impressive debut for the Eagles, earning the 4-0 shutout victory against Stetson
- Faced 13 shots from the Hatters' offense; had four saves on the day
- Went wire-to-wire in between the pipes after a full 90 minutes of action
- Earned FGCU's first shutout this season; helped stop a strong Hatter offense
