JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Stetson’s Irianis Garcia and Ava Braswell and Austin Peay’s Cameron Grayson have been named as the ASUN Conference’s Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, announced Monday by the league office.
Garcia had a big week at the plate for the Hatters that earned her Player of the Week after she accumulated nine hits with three runs driven home and six runs scored herself. The sophomore shortstop finished the week batting .692 (9-for-13) at the plate with a slugging percentage of 1.154. Two of her six runs scored came in the team’s game against No. 7 Florida and struck out just once over the four-game span.
Braswell had a big week in the circle for Stetson after throwing 9.1 innings in three appearances for Pitcher of the Week. She allowed just three hits against No. 7 Florida before pitching a complete game against West Georgia where she struck out four and allowed only two hits.
Grayson picked up two wins over the weekend where she allowed just six hits - none of which were extra-base hits - and walked one to earn Pitcher of the Week. Grayson went on to keep her opponents to a .200 batting average while retiring 30 of the 31 batters she faced over the two games.
