JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Day two of the 2026 ASUN Softball Championship saw lots of excitement as Jacksonville and North Florida continued on into the bracket as North Alabama stayed alive with a win over FGCU in the double elimination game.
Game One: #4 Jacksonville (6) vs. #5 FGCU (2)
The Jacksonville offense jumped to a fast start on day two of the 2026 ASUN Softball Championship taking a 6-2 victory over FGCU.
FGCU got on the board first with a solo home run from Nikki Gibson in the top of second inning for a 1-0 lead. Jacksonville answered right back in the bottom half of the inning with four runs on three hits to take the lead.
The Dolphins added to their lead in the bottom of the third when Lindsey Chadwick knocked out her 10th home run of the season with a solo shot over the left field fence to make it a 5-1 advantage.
The Eagle offense got some relief in the top of the fourth when Ally Thompson doubled to the left-center wall that allowed Sietske Drijvers to score and cut into the Dolphins lead.
After Jacksonville added one last insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning, Freshman of the Year Jaida Thomas stole a potential home run in the top of the seventh to end the game and give the Dolphins the 6-2 victory.
Jacy Harrelson got the win pitching a complete game with three strikeouts.
Jacksonville will play against No. 1 Central Arkansas Thursday at 12 p.m. ET.
Game Two: #3 North Alabama (1) vs. #7 North Florida (4)
The seventh-seeded Ospreys took a big win over North Alabama in game two of the day claiming the 4-1 victory.
North Florida got out to a fast start with a 4-0 lead after the second inning; the Ospreys got a run in the top of the first inning when Ayden Allen drove in Addie Keef. After Kalyn McCarthy and Hannah Davila both scored on a Hallie Langford single and a North Alabama error, Langford stole home when the Lions defense was turned around to give them a four run lead.
The Lions put a run on the board when Bayleigh Rouse set a solo shot over the left field fence in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Osprey defense held steady in the final two innings to move on in the bracket and take the 4-1 win.
North Florida will play against No. 2 Stetson at 2:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.
Game Three: #3 North Alabama (10) vs. #5 FGCU (2)
In the third game of the day, North Alabama took a convincing 10-2 win over FGCU to survive and advance in the 2026 ASUN Softball Championship.
The Lions offense ignited in the bottom of the first inning when Laura Leigh Wheeler sent a two-run swing over the left-center wall for the early lead. The very next inning, FGCU responded with Olivia Black clearing the bases for a two-RBI double to make it a 2-2 game.
North Alabama took the lead back in the bottom of the fourth inning that started with Bayleigh Rouse knocking in her 14th home run of the season with a two-run shot over the center field wall. Just a few batters later, Natalie Shaw brought Emma Kate Wright across the plate with a sac fly deep to right.
UNA’s offense exploded in the bottom of the sixth inning that ended with Laura Leigh Wheeler singling to center field that allowed Briley Dover to slide across the plate and end the game in six innings for the 10-2 final.
Katie Simon got the win after pitching a complete game while striking out six en route to her 12 win of the season.
North Alabama will play against the lowest seeded losing team between Central Arkansas/Jacksonville and Stetson/North Florida.
