JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Gardner-Webb's Victor Cury and the FGCU duo of Izzy Ackley and Alexandra Anueza earned this week's Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Swimming & Diving honors, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Cury won this week's Men's Swimmer of the Week after recording a time of 9:21.15 in the 1000-Yard Freestyle at UNC Wilmington, good for first place in the event. The freshman also recorded a time of 4:31.63, including a 26.38 final split, to take first place in the 500-Yard Freestyle race on Saturday.
Ackley was named Women's Swimmer of the Week after placing first in the 100 IM with a time of 55.37, which set a new FGCU record. The Lake Saint Louis, Mo., native also placed first in the 100 Backstroke with a NCAA qualification time of 51.92. Andueza was named Women's Diver of the Week after placing first in the 3-Meter Dive with a zone-qualifying score of 316.20. She also placed earned a zone-qualifying score of 273.40 in the 1-Meter Dive at the Eagle Invitational.
