JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Central Arkansas, EKU and West Georgia claimed this week's Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Outdoor Track and Field weekly honors, announced Wednesday by the league office.
Central Arkansas’s Clifton McBride earned Track Performer of the Week after he placed sixth in the 100m (10.58) at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State. McBride, who ran the third best 100m time in the ASUN this year, also ran a 21.13 race in the 200m, a top-100 time in the country and the top time in the ASUN.
UCA teammate Jaden Schneedberger snagged Field Performer of the Week honors after he placed second in the hanner throw with a UCA record of 64.74m - ranked 30th in the nation - and fifth in the shot put with a 17.19m mark.
West Georgia’s Alex Njoroge claimed Freshman of the Week after he set a UWG record in the 3000m with a time of 8:45.38 for a first place finish.
Edna Chelulei from EKU earned this week’s Track Performer of the week after she broke her own school record in the 10,000m at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 31:33.57 and a third place finish. The time shattered her previous record from last year’s outdoor season by over 49 seconds.
Day Atkins out of West Georgia took home Field Performer of the Week after she medaled in the shot put with a mark of 13.58m and the discus with a 43.46m throw.
UWG teammate Elise Duncanson grabbed Freshman of the Week honors after she took first place in the 400m with a time of 54.77. Duncanson also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400m relay where the team shattered its record with a 3:52.95 run.
