FGCU Overtakes Top Spot in Round Two, Gamboa Sits in First for Individuals

VALDOSTA, Ga. - FGCU paced the way in round two of the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Men’s Golf Championship as they claimed possession of first place in the team standings while fellow Eagle Sebastian Gamboa slid into the top spot in individual play.

FGCU, who shot six under par in the round, takes a two-stroke lead over Stetson heading into tomorrow’s final round of play. Following Stetson, Lipscomb, EKU and North Florida round out the top-five teams in the standings.

Gamboa, who shot the second-lowest score of the round, took sole possession of first place today after four birdies and an eagle on hole 14. Austin Peay’s Patton Samuels and EKU’s Anders Larson, who carded the rounds lowest score of the day at 66, sit in a tie for second place while Gamboa’s teammate, Sacha Ruiz, goes into tomorrow’s round in fourth place.

Five golfers currently own a share of fifth place in Andrew Ferworn (North Alabama), Vukasin Suturovic (Central Arkansas), Brandon Lohr (Jacksonville), Thanattasorn Supinraj (Stetson) and Alexander Moeldrup (Lipscomb). 

Tomorrow’s final round of play will begin at 8 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. CT with players teeing off every five minutes from the first and 10th tees. Tee times and live results can be found on Scoreboard.
