JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville's Katie Martinez was named 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Beach Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Martinez highlighted an Academic All-ASUN Team of 35, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Martinez, an Astoria, N.Y., native, holds a 4.00 GPA while majoring in Instructional Education with a minor in Communication Sciences and Disorders as well as Health Sciences. For the Dolphins this season, Martinez recorded 19 victories to tie the second-most single-season wins at JU. She recorded wins against four nationally-ranked opponents including Stetson, North Florida, Boise State and South Carolina. She became the fourth Dolphin in program history to surpass the 50-career win milestone.
The Academic All-ASUN recognizes student-athletes who excel both in competition and in the classroom. All student-athletes named to the list boast a 3.50 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's games.
