JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville and FGCU earned this week's Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Baseball honors, announced Monday by the league office.
Jacksonville’s Sam Grunberg led the Dolphins to a 4-0 record on the week that included a road upset of No. 21 UCF and a series sweep of West Georgia to be named Player of the Week. The senior first baseman hit .550 (11-for-20) with seven RBI, eight runs scored, two doubles and a home run, finishing with a 1.342 OPS. Grunberg recorded a game-tying home run and go-ahead RBI against UCF, and hits in every game to anchor Jacksonville’s offense.
FGCU’s Chris Diaz was named Pitcher of the Week after delivering a complete-game performance for the Eagles. Diaz tossed 9.0 innings, allowing just three hits and no runs while striking out seven batters. He held opponents to a .107 batting average in the outing, limiting scoring opportunities throughout
