FGCU, North Alabama and Lipscomb Earn Victories to Advance to Friday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - FGCU, North Alabama and Lipscomb earned victories on Thursday to advance to Friday's semifinal matchups. 

Game 4: #3 FGCU 4, #6 Central Arkansas 3 
Evan Dempsey earned the win after delivering a strong outing for the Eagles. Preston Rogers and Ashton Pocol combined to close out the game, with Pocol recording the save to send FGCU into the next round of postseason play.Nathan Gagnon provided a key spark for the Eagles with a home run, while Jeremy Comer added an RBI knock to help pace the FGCU offense. Central Arkansas threatened at times offensively, led by Nate Negre and Parker Gwyn, but the FGCU pitching staff limited damage throughout the contest to preserve the win. 


Game 5: #4 North Alabama 11, #1 North Florida 4 
The Lions delivered key offensive moments throughout the game, highlighted by a home run from Wes Walker that helped swing momentum in North Alabama’s favor. Additional extra-base hits from Will Millard, Justin Santoyo, Nash Rippen and Tyler LePage fueled the UNA offense against the Ospreys’ pitching staff. On the mound, Tripp Patterson earned the win after turning in a strong start for the Lions. Luke Davenport bridged the middle innings before Kelly Crumpton shut the door late to earn the save and send North Alabama into the next round of the tournament. North Florida battled throughout the contest and got a solo home run from Carter White, but the Lions’ pitching staff limited the damage. 

Game 6: #2 Lipscomb 4, #3 FGCU 1 
Lipscomb opened the scoring in the third inning before adding three more runs in the fifth to build a cushion it would not relinquish. The Bisons finished with six hits on the night while limiting FGCU to just four. FGCU’s lone run came in the eighth inning when Nathan Gagnon scored on an RBI single by Evan Dempsey, but the Eagles were unable to generate additional offense late in the contest. Alexander Llinas earned the win for Lipscomb, improving to 6-4 on the season, while Kaleb Kantola recorded his ninth save of the year. Lipscomb will take on North Alabama on Friday while FGCU enters a win or go home matchup with North Florida.
