North Florida's Barendse Named 2026 Scholar-Athlete of the Year

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida's Laurie Barendse was named the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Barendse highlighted a list of 28 student-athletes that were announced by the league office as Academic All-ASUN on Monday.

Barendse holds a 3.94 GPA while earning a degree in Marketing. The senior posted a 15-4 singles record this season along with a 14-4 doubles record, both on the top flight. She recorded several notable wins this season to help lead the Ospreys to an undefeated regular season for the first time in program history. 

The Academic All-ASUN recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. All student-athletes named to the list boast a 3.50 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's games.
