2025 Baseball Postseason Honors Announced

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Austin Peay earned three superlative recognitions while Stetson claimed two to highlight the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Baseball postseason honors, announced Monday by the league office.

The Governor's Cameron Nickens earned APSU its second consecutive Player of the Year honor as he enters the postseason leading the NCAA with 93 hits and 174 total bases. The Magnolia, Texas, native has two multi-home run games this season, including a three-homer game where he went 5-for-5 at North Alabama (April 11), tying the program record for home runs in a game, and 15 total bases. Cole Johnson secured the Freshman of the Year award after leading all freshmen in the ASUN with a .358 batting average. Johnson's average ranked sixth in the conference and he was also sixth in slugging at .592. Roland Fanning secured the Coach of the Year honor for a second year in a row after leading Austin Peay to the ASUN Gold Division Championship. APSU went 26-4 in league play and posted a program-best 43 wins on the season.

ASUN Defensive Player of the Year Lorenzo Meolo was a steady presence in the field for Stetson. He registered 69 putouts and 129 assists in 201 total chances, committing only three errors for a .985 fielding percentage. He played a role in 25 double plays and was even featured on SportsCenter’s Top 10 for a highlight-reel diving catch against Florida. The Hatters' Jonathan Gonzalez was tabbed the ASUN Pitcher of the Year. In 13 starts this season, the southpaw posted an 8-2 record with a 2.18 ERA, holding opposing hitters to a .192 batting average across 82.2 innings pitched. Among his standout outings, Gonzalez threw a complete game shutout in a 10-0 victory over FGCU on March 15.
