JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the second straight year, Stetson won the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Women's Tennis Championship. The Hatters defeated North Alabama, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.
ASUN Player of the Year Cheri Darley and First Team All-ASUN selection Alanna DiFrancesco secured the Doubles point for the Hatters on Court 1. Clelia Lombardi put Stetson ahead 2-0 on the scoreboard with her straight-set triumph on Court 5 of Singles play. Next, UNA's Mathilde Delaney defeated the Hatters' Audelie Lesauvage 6-4, 6-4 on Court 4 to make the match score 2-1. Darley, the Tournament MVP, claimed a win on Court 1 before the Lions struck again on Court 5 with a victory by Lena Karlovcan. DiFrancesco came through clutch for Stetson on Court 3 to secure the tournament crown for the Hatters.
