FGCU Takes on Oklahoma as 14 Seed in NCAA Tournament on Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Women's Basketball Champion, FGCU, has been tabbed as a 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament and takes on #3 Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., in the First Round on Saturday, March 22, announced Sunday night during the Selection Special on ESPN.

The Eagles (30-3) are back in the NCAA Tournament after defeating Central Arkansas in the ASUN Women's Basketball Championship Final, 68-51, last Saturday afternoon inside Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla. The victory over the Sugar Bears earned FGCU its 12th ASUN Championship banner in the last 14 seasons, including its ninth-straight title overall. The Eagles got a team-high 15 points from ASUN Player of the Year Emani Jefferson, who was named ASUN Tournament MVP. She was joined in double-figure scoring by Dolly Cairns (10) and Khamari Mitchell-Steen (10). ASUN Coach of the Year Chelsea Lyles, who is in her first season at the helm, looks to lead the Eagles to an NCAA Tournament victory for the third time in four March Madness appearances.

Oklahoma (25-7) enters the national tourney after reaching the semifinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament in the Sooners' first season as a member of the SEC.
