JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Four Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) women’s basketball teams are set to play in postseason tournaments with EKU in the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT) while Austin Peay, FGCU and Stetson have all accepted at-large bids to play in the Postseason Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) powered by Triple Crown Sports.
EKU (24-8) women’s basketball will play host to the No. 1-seeded Utah in the opening round of the WBIT. EKU claimed the ASUN regular season title after finishing 15-3 in conference play. The Colonels and Utes will tip-off from Baptist Health Arena in Richmond, Ky. on Thursday, March 19. Tip time will be announced later this week.
Austin Peay (19-13), FGCU (16-15) and Stetson (20-11) all received at-large bids to the WNIT’s 48-team field. The Eagles made it to the quarterfinals of the ASUN Championship while Stetson played in the semifinals. Austin Peay, who defeated Stetson in the semifinals, made its first appearance in the ASUN Championship finals where they forced overtime with No. 2 Jacksonville.
The official bracket for the WNIT will be released Monday, March 16 with matchups, locations and tip times.
