JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Dolphins earned a historic victory over the Trinity College of Florida Thursday night, defeating the Tigers 132-45.
That score represented the largest margin of victory in school history, and largest on home court ever. The previous record was set under head coach Jordan Mincy with a 67-point win over Johnson in 2023.
It was a night for firsts for JU as the Dolphins not only rewrote program record books but also set personal records for plenty of players.
Redshirt freshman Anakin Brown scored his first college bucket on a free throw in the first half, ending his night with seven points. After playing in one game during his first year as a Dolphin, Brown has appeared in both games this season. He finished his night with six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
Sophomore guard Lamont Jackson appeared in his first college game after not playing last season. Jackson finished with 10 minutes logged. He also scored seven points, had one assist and one steal.
True freshman Michael Harper Jr. also scored his first college bucket Thursday night. The guard, who appeared briefly against Miami, ended his first game at Swisher with 15 points, a high among JU freshmen.
Fellow freshman Hayden Wood was hard at work swatting away balls, collecting a team-high two blocks in his second college game, a new career-best for the Arkansas native.
Roman Loux, a freshman, got his first college minutes with under seven to play. The guard from St. Augustine played six minutes and scored his first college bucket on a floater down the lane with under three minutes to play.
Loux also recorded his first college block, one of eight on the night, with a swat on a layup attempt.
Transfer guard Jaylen Jones grabbed four steals marking a new career-high for the junior.
Jason Thirdkill Jr. scored his first buckets as a 'Phin, notching seven points in the first half after being held scoreless in Coral Gables. Thirdkill tallied a game-high 19 points. Allen Udemadu also recorded his first JU buckets with four points.
Junior big man Donovan Rivers finished just one point behind his career-high against the Tigers. Rivers totaled 10 points on the night in 10 minutes.
The biggest overall night for an individual Dolphin was by Jaylen Jordon, who notched the team's first double-double of the season. Jordon had an 11 and 11 night on a perfect 4-4 from the field and 3-4 from the charity stripe.
As a team, JU scored 71 points in the first half. That number was the highest scoring half for the Jacksonville program since scoring 69 points in games in 2018 and 2017. Under head coach Mincy, the team's first half scoring was the most in a game ever, breaking the previous record of 63 scored against Johnson in 2023.
Every Dolphin that played Thursday night ended with at least two points.
Jacksonville next takes to the court against last year's SoCon tournament champion High Point, in North Carolina, on Tuesday Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
