THE SHORT STORY
Explosive second-half offense propelled Lipscomb Men's Basketball to its second victory of the season, defeating Western Carolina 83-62 in Allen Arena on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The game got started slow offensively on both sides of the ball with just nine points scored before the first media timeout where Lipscomb trailed 5-4.

Out of the timeout, Lipscomb took its first lead of the night after forcing a turnover and cashing in with a triple on the other end by Grant Asman for a 7-5 advantage.

Offense continued to be hard to come by for both squads as Western Carolina retook an 8-7 advantage just before the under-12 media timeout.

Out of the timeout, the Bisons launched an 8-0 run, capped off by a Kennedy Okpara triple to force a Catamounts timeout.

The Bisons continued on to hold Western Carolina to two of its next nine field goals to open up a double-digit, 22-12 advantage with 5:35 left in the half, spurring another WCU timeout.

Lipscomb continued to stifle the Catamounts with relentless defense and heated up on the offensive end of the floor. Making five of its last eight field goals in the final minutes of the frame, Lipscomb held a 34-23 advantage at the half.

The Bisons didn't lose steam after the halftime break, outscoring the Catamounts 7-1 after forcing three quick turnovers in the opening 1:30 to prompt another WCU timeout.

Lipscomb stayed ahead, leading 45-31 at the under-16 media timeout.

Ethan Duncan began to heat up from beyond the arc, draining back-to-back triples, pushing the Bisons out to a 52-35 advantage. The lead ballooned to 56-35, the largest of the night, just before the under-12 media break.

Out of the timeout, Lipscomb continued on a 15-0 run as the lead grew 64-35 with just over nine minutes to play.

Asman continued to lead Lipscomb, scoring his 22nd point of the night on a triple, which tied a career-high he set earlier in the season. The Bisons remained comfortably in control at the final media timeout of the game, ahead 77-52.

Lipscomb's well-rounded offense continued to the final whistle, as all 11 Bisons that saw the floor scored in an 83-62 victory.
