Hatters Defeat Owls to Win 2024 ASUN Baseball Championship

DELAND, Fla. - For the ninth time in program history, and the first time since 2018, Stetson captured the Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Championship. The Hatters won the title after defeating Kennesaw State, 5-3, Sunday on Melching Field at Conrad Park.

The Hatters were the first to put runs on the board after Championship MVP Lorenzo Meola homered to center field in the top of the second inning. At the close of the fifth inning, the Hatters maintained their 3-0 lead despite being outhit by KSU 7-5 at that point in the game.

Chris Cole singled to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning to bring two runners home and get Kennesaw State on the board. The hit resulted in Cole's ninth and 10th RBI of the season with Isaac Bouton and Zac Corbin crossing home plate. The top of the eighth saw Stetson put two more runs on the board. Brandon Hylton stepped up to bat and hit a two-run blast to right-center that gave the Hatters a 5-2 advantage.
