KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The SMU Mustangs maintained control of the team standings on Saturday to capture the first Men's Swimming & Diving Championship competed for under the Atlantic Sun Conference banner.
The Mustangs finished the event with a total of 1,059 points. Queens finished second with 699 points while FAU was third with 568 points. The Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Championship, Jack Hoagland, claimed individual gold in the 500-Yard Freestyle, 400-Yard Individual Medley and 1,650-Yard Freestyle. The Most Outstanding Diver of the Championship honor was shared by the Mustang's Tyler Coffey and John Dymond. Kristaps Mikelsons was tabbed the Most Outstanding Freshman Performer after accumulating 57 points. SMU's Greg Rhodenbaugh was named Swimming Coach of the Year and the Mustang's Darian Schmidt earned the Diving Coach of the Year honor.
