Recanati, McCullough & Washington Claim First Weekly Honors of the Season

ATLANTA
- The EKU duo of Alice Recanati and Sierra McCullough were joined by North Florida's Alexa Washington as they earned the season's first Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball weekly honors, announced Monday by the league office. Recanati was named Player of the Week while the Newcomer of the Week award went to McCullough and Washington was tabbed Freshman of the Week. 


Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Alice Recanati, EKU
Senior | Guard | Bergamo, Italy
- First Career ASUN Player of the Week award; second in EKU program history
- Averaged 20.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 51.0% from the field
- Neared a double-double in the season opener with 19 points and nine rebounds over 30 minutes of action
- Dropped 15 tallies and three assists in the SIUE win, assisting on the game-winning layup
- Followed up with a career-high 28 points while adding six rebounds, five assists and four steals against Northern Kentucky

Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week
Sierra McCullough, EKU
Senior | Forward | Opelika, Ala.
- First Career ASUN Newcomer of the Week award; fourth all-time honor for the Colonels
- Helped the team to its first 3-0 start since 2012-13; averaged 8.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game
- Began her EKU career with a double-double against Hanover with 11 points and 10 rebounds while adding a block
- Followed up with an eight-point, 14-rebound stat line against SIUE
- Posted a career-high performance against the Northern Kentucky Norse with 16 rebounds

Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week
Alexa Washington, North Florida
Freshman | Guard | Monroeville, Pa.
- First Career ASUN Freshman of the Week award; third all-time honor for the Ospreys
- Combined for 31 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in her first two collegiate appearances
- Notched 13 tallies in her Osprey debut against the Florida Gators in 24 minutes on the hardwood
- Shot 5-for-8 from the field (62.5%) and 3-for-6 from downtown in Gainesville 
- Led the squad in scoring against the TBC Eagles with 18; was 4-of-10 from distance and added three steals
