Women's #ASUNTF Outdoor Championship Honors Earned by KSU's Hendrick, Liberty's Igberaese & Pantlitz

 


ATLANTA, Ga. - Three Women's Outdoor Track & Field student-athletes landed the final set of awards from the 2021 ASUN Conference Championship as Kennesaw State's Sarah Hendrick joined Liberty's Abby Pantlitz and Chelsea Igberaese in capturing championship accolades, announced Friday by the league office.

Igberaese and KSU's Jessica Watkins previously won the Championships Most Valuable Performer honor at the conference meet while Liberty's Lance Bingham earned the Coach of the Year honor after leading his team to their second consecutive title. Hendrick was awarded the Most Outstanding Track Performer as Igberaese and Pantlitz claimed the Most Outstanding Field Performer and Most Outstanding Freshman, respectively.

Hendrick claimed the Most Outstanding Track Performer for her first-place finishes in both the 800-Meter and the 1,500-Meter at the championship. She currently ranks eighth in the NCAA in the 800-Meter after crossing the finish line with a time of 2:01.47 at the Crimson Tide Invitational earlier this season. The Kennesaw, Ga., native is set to compete in the NCAA East Regionals in the 800-Meter. 

Most Outstanding Field Performer Igberaese won the Hammer Throw and the Discuss event and placed third in the Shot Put at the championship. Her mark in the Hammer of 59.54m broke the ASUN Championship meet record in the event while her toss of 15.69m in the Shot Put also broke the previous meet record. Igberaese qualified in three events (Hammer, Discus, Shot Put) for the NCAA East Regionals. 

Pantlitz earned the Most Outstanding Freshman honor after taking home the title in both the 100-Meter and 200-Meter at the championship. She clocked a time of 11.63 in the 100-Meter to win the event while finishing with a time of 23.85 in the 200-Meter.
