Long goes Fast

MACON, Ga. - The Gardner-Webb women's track and field athletes enjoyed a successful Radford Invitational, winning a combined five titles. Carrie Long highlighted the Runnin' Bulldogs' performance, who on Wednesday earned the Atlantic Sun's female Athlete of the Week award, the conference office announced.

Long became the first female freshman to win an Athlete of the Week award this year, splitting her efforts between the pole vault and the 200-meter dash, winning titles in both. In the pole vault she cleared a height of 3.35m (10'11.75") and in the 200 meters she cruised to a season-best time of 26.65.

The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship.
