UNF's Meyer Makes History; Grabs Third #ASUNTF Scholar-Athlete of the Year
All-Academic Team
LakePoint, Ga. - North Florida's Eden Meyer highlights the Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic team, collecting her third consecutive ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. Meyer becomes the first Women's Outdoor Track & Field athlete to accomplish this feat since the award was introduced in 2012.
Meyer boasts a 3.99 GPA majoring in Biology as she makes her third appearance on the All-Academic team. The senior will also participate in the NCAA East Preliminaries Thursday for her time of 34:19.91 in the 10,000-meter run earlier this season. Meyer is joined by teammates Audrey Carpenter, Hallie Grimes and Claudia Jalon on the who also collect All-Academic team honors for the Ospreys, claiming the most by any other squad.
Lipscomb adds three unanimous selections to the All-Academic team in Courtney Brenner, Avery Franklin and Katie Sperry. Brenner owns a perfect 4.00 GPA, majoring in Dietetics and also qualified for the NCAA East Preliminaries for her time of 34:03.77 in the 10K earlier this year.
Jacksonville sees three Dolphins make the All-Academic team, including Brittany Bowald, Stormm Phillips and Caitlin Marino. Bowald makes her second-straight appearance on the list cumulating a 4.00 GPA in Marketing, while also qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminaries in the Triple Jump with a mark of 12.90m. Phillips will join Bowald at the NCAA East Preliminary as she posted a mark of 13.12m in the Triple Jump earlier in the season.
Two-time selections to the All-Academic team Shannon Turner of NJIT and Jordan Gray of Kennesaw State garner honors after their continued success on the track this season. A total of 16 ASUN Women's Outdoor Track & Field athletes are set to compete in the NCAA Championship East Preliminaries taking place in Tampa, Fla this weekend, May 24-26.
