JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville's Derek Bermudez and FGCU's Evan Dempsey earned this week's Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Baseball honors, announced Monday by the league office.
Bermudez was named Player of the Week after posting a .600 batting average in the Dolphins four-win series against Rhode Island. The junior recorded two home runs, one of which was a grand slam. He added 13 RBI and nine hits. Dempsey was named Pitcher of the Week. He set a career-high 12 strikeouts on opening day and ended the weekend with 57 across three games. The right hander from Tampa, Fla., did not allow a run or walk during his time on the mound.
