JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida was selected atop the the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Men’s Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced on Thursday.
The defending ASUN tournament champion Ospreys went 7-8-4 last season, including a 4-2-1 mark in league play, and captured their second conference title. FGCU was selected second followed by Stetson in third. The Hatters, along with UNF, earned the 2024 ASUN Regular Season Championship. Central Arkansas, last year's championship runner up, rounds out the top half of the preseason rankings in fourth place.
The Ospreys, Bears and Royals each claimed a preseason superlative award. David Perez secured the Preseason Player of the Year award for UNF after recording seven goals and two assists in 1,348 minutes last season. Central Arkansas defender Elijah Bishop was named the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. The Aurora, Colo., native helped UCA notch five shutouts last season and held four more opponents to just one goal. Queens' Matheus Rhornens enters the fall as the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year. The sophomore blanked five opponents and notched 60 saves last season, earning a .750 save percentage.
