JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Austin Peay, EKU, Lipscomb, North Alabama and Queens all earned individual superlative awards to headline the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Men's Basketball postseason honors announced Tuesday.
For the first time since 2019, Lipscomb is home to the ASUN Player of the Year as Jacob Ognacevic earned this season's honor. The senior forward leads the conference with 20.3 points per game after playing and starting in all 31 of the Bisons' games this season. He has tallied nine double-doubles on the season with seven coing during ASUN play. The Sheboygan, Wisc., native also ranks third in the conference with 8.0 rebounds per game.
Queens' Malcolm Wilson was named the Defensive Player of the Year after leading the nation all season in blocked shots and is currently averaging 3.4 pr game. Last week, he became the first Royal in the program's Division I history to swat 100+ shots in a season. He also ranks top 15 in the ASUN in both total rebounding averaging (5.4) and offensive boards per game (1.7).
Ranking second in the ASUN with 8.5 rebounds per game and third in steals with 1.5, North Alabama's Taye Fields is the 2025 Newcomer of the Year. The Opelika, Ala., native averaged 11.5 points per game and scored the 1,000th point of his career earlier this season against Charleston Southern. The senior guard is the only student-athlete ranking in the top ten of the league in both steals and blocks.
Sixth Man of the Year Mayar Wol averaged 8.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in the regular season for EKU and increased his scoring average to 9.7 in league play. The Raleigh, N.C., native came off the bench and averaged 13.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.7 blocks during an eight-game winning streak that changed the Colonels season.
Tate McCubbin, who led Austin Peay with 53 three-pointers and 98 rebounds during conference play, was tabbed 2025 Freshman of the Year. The Columbia, Mo., native has both the fourth and the 20th-highest scoring games this season by a freshman in Division I. His 38-point performance on Jan. 16 trails only Duke's Cooper Flagg, Rutgers' Ace Bailey and Texas' Tre Johnson.
After leading Lipscomb to its first ASUN Regular Season Championship since 2019 and the #1 seed in the conference tourney, Lennie Acuff was awarded the ASUN Coach of the Year accolade. Acuff led the Bisons to 20-plus wins for the third year in a row while keeping Lipscomb in the top 100 of the NET all season. This year's squd ranks second in the ASUN with scoring average of 79.3 and is the league's leading defense, allowing just 67.2 points per game.
