JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Alabama's Briley Dover and Emily Simon earned this week's Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Softball honors, announced Monday by the league office.
Dover went 10-18 in five games for the Lions in the Stinger Classic. She helped UNA earn a 5-0 start to the season with wins against Alabama State and Nicholls. The sophomore became the first student-athlete in the Lions' Division I history to record five hits and two triples in a game. She is also the first in the program's DI history to hit for the cylce. Simon, in her UNA debut, had a complete game shutout against the Hornets. She allowed just four hits, one walk and had seven strikeouts in the win. She pitched 12 scoreless innings over three games last week with a 2-0 record in the circle along with one save.
