LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Jacksonville men's soccer team defeated Lipscomb University on Saturday night, earning a 2-0 shutout victory in the opening round of the ASUN Men's Soccer Championship at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
The Dolphins controlled the action throughout the match, holding a significant 19-5 advantage in shots over the Bisons. Jacksonville found the back of the net first when Diego Valles scored an unassisted goal in the 16th minute to give the Dolphins a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Jacksonville's defensive unit delivered a sterling performance, limiting Lipscomb to just two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Christian Sekanina secured the clean sheet for the Dolphins, tallying two saves in the victory.
The offense broke through again late in the second half to solidify the win. Juan Pablo Gonzalez scored the Dolphins' second goal in the 82nd minute (81:18), assisted by Felix Kogler.
