Atlantic Sun Conference Announces Queens as Host of 2024 Basketball Tipoff in Charlotte

ATLANTA – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced Thursday plans for its 2024 Basketball Tipoff. The event showcases the league's Men's and Women's Basketball programs and will be held on the campus of Queens University in Charlotte, N.C., on Oct. 14.

"Thank you to President Dan Lugo and Director of Athletics Cherie Swarthout for hosting this year's Basketball Tipoff in Charlotte," said ASUN Commissioner Jeff Bacon. "This event provides an opportunity to showcase our elite student-athletes, promote our programs, and celebrate the magnitude of the Atlantic Sun's 20-million home footprint. We look forward to the start of another successful season."

The 2024 ASUN Basketball Tipoff will be highlighted with two separate ESPN+ broadcasts featuring interviews with head coaches and student-athletes from all 12 member institutions. All head coaches in attendance will also be guests on a live edition of the ASUN Gameday podcast to promote the start of the 2024-25 seasons. The date also marks the release of the ASUN Men's and Women's Basketball preseason honors.

"As a proud member of this dynamic conference, we look forward to welcoming Commissioner Bacon and our ASUN family to the Queen City,” said Dan Lugo, president of Queens University of Charlotte. “As we enter our third year of NCAA Division I competition, we celebrate our Royals' continued success and look forward to an exciting year ahead!”

This marks the second edition of the fall showcase following the inaugural event last year in Clarksville, Tenn., hosted by Austin Peay inside F&M Bank Arena.

“We are really looking forward to hosting the ASUN Basketball Tipoff at Queens this year,” said Queens Director of Athletics Cherie Swarthout. "We are grateful to our fellow ASUN members and Commissioner Bacon for the opportunity to showcase the beautiful city of Charlotte along with the Queens community. Hosting the 2024 ASUN Basketball Tipoff inside Curry Arena at the Levine Center marks another historical event for the Royals, and it will surely bring about excitement for the upcoming 2024-25 Men’s and Women’s Basketball seasons.”

The 2025 Men's Basketball Championship takes place on March 2-9, 2025, while the Women's postseason begins on March 7 and wraps up on March 15. Both tournaments are 10-team events with the higher seeds hosting throughout. Last season's Men's Basketball Champion Stetson looks to repeat after capturing its first ASUN crown on its home floor against the Governors. After defeating Central Arkansas, FGCU hung its 11th ASUN Women's Basketball Championship banner inside Alico Arena last March.
