ASUN Announces 2026 Annual Awards; EKU Wins Academic Trophy

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - With the 2025-26 Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) academic year concluded, the league announced its annual accomplishments and honors during Thursday’s Hall of Fame ceremony at Dune House in Jacksonville, Fla. The awards were voted on and selected by various groups including Faculty Athletic Representatives, Senior Woman Administrators and conference office staff.

Event host Mia O'Brien announced Erika Zschuppe from FGCU and Matt Shanahan from Queens as the Female and Male Athletes of the Year, respectively, while Olivia Black from FGCU and John Alie from Bellarmine received Postgraduate Scholarships.

North Alabama was recognized for having the highest overall Academic Progress Rate (APR) and the league’s most improved APR over the past year. EKU won this year’s President’s Academic Cup after leading the conference with the highest percentage of student-athletes on the ASUN Honor Roll.

Central Arkansas was the recipiant of the Bill Bibb and the Jesse C. Fletcher Trophy while FGCU took home the Sherman Day Trophy.

The Bibb Trophy is the ASUN's premier trophy, awarded to the institution with the top overall athletic program. To win this, an institution must demonstrate elite success across the board—combining the achievements of both their men’s and women’s teams while the Fletcher Trophy is awarded annually to the ASUN institution that has demonstrated the highest level of comprehensive excellence across its men’s athletic programs.

The Sherman Day Trophy is presented to the ASUN institution that has achieved the greatest overall success across its women’s athletic programs.
