Atlantic Sun Conference Announces SAAC Officers for 2024-25 Academic Year

ATLANTA — The Atlantic Sun Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) announced the officers for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year. Elected by their peers, the SAAC delegates will represent the conference at both the national level as well as on their campuses.

2024-25 ASUN Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Officers
Ashley Cozad, North Florida (Swimming & Diving) - NCAA Division I SAAC Representative
Jaci Carpenter, FGCU (Beach Volleyball) - ASUN SAAC Chair
Grace Clark, EKU (Women's Golf) - ASUN SAAC Vice Chair
Dylan Anthony, Stetson (Softball) - ASUN SAAC Secretary
Scotty McKenzie, Lipscomb (Cross Country), Social Media Coordinator

Ashley Cozad enters her fifth year serving as a part of ASUN SAAC and her third representing the ASUN at the NCAA level. Last year, the UNF graduate worked alongside DI SAAC representatives from other leagues as the group addressed important topics such as the transfer windows, NIL, student-athlete engagement and mental health.

"I am incredibly grateful for the chance to return to ASUN SAAC as the NCAA Division I Representative for a third year of service. As incoming chair of Division I SAAC, I am excited to lead two driven groups of student-athletes who share the same passions of advocacy and engagement across numerous groups from the national to campus level," stated Cozad.

FGCU's Jaci Carpenter will serve her first year as ASUN SAAC Chair. The senior has been a mainstay on the Eagles' campus being a part of the Hazing Prevention team as well as representing student-athletes on the Athletic Director hiring panel.

"I believe in the power of SAAC and want to continue to work with my peers to make sure that we can continue to be good representatives on behalf of ourselves, our institutions, and the conference as a whole and make an impact on our communities," said Carpenter.

EKU's Grace Clark and Stetson's Dylan Anthony are also both serving as an Atlantic Sun SAAC officer for the first time. Clark represented the Colonels at ASUN SAAC meetings last year and is eager to take on a bigger role in the group. "We have seen a lot of growth and involvement over this past year. I would love to bring a new perspective to our conference committee and continue to grow what has already started," said the EKU golfer.

"My first year being a part of ASUN SAAC has been nothing short of both enjoyable and educational," said senior softballer Dylan Anthony. "I plan to build relationships within our group and support others to the best of my ability. Overall, I want to help push ASUN SAAC in the right direction while I am in this role."

Lipscomb's Scotty McKenzie will enter the 2024-25 year as the Social Media Coordinator for the group. McKenzie previously served as the Chair for the past two years and looks forward to continuing his involvement with SAAC in his new role.

Over the past year, ASUN SAAC has been an integral piece of the league's governance process by providing feedback and insight on many conference proposals. The group keyed on two initiatives during the year focusing on their canned food drive and youth engagement in their local communities. SAAC was also instrumental in the conference adopting QPR training for its staff and team leaders. The Question, Persuade, Refer program offers all athletics staff the tools and knowledge to identify warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond.
