JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – FGCU's Alahna Paige and West Georgia's Destiny Jones earned this week's Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball honors, announced Monday by the league office.
Jones averaged 19.5 points per game in a 1-1 week for the Wolves to earn the first Player and Freshman of the Week honors of both her career and the West Georgia program. She scored 15 points with 10 rebounds in UWG's first Division I road win at UNC Wilmington last Thursday. She followed up with a career-high 24 points in an overtime loss at Western Carolina on Sunday. Newcomer of the Week Alahna Paige helped the Eagles to a pair of home victories to extend the team's winning streak to seven games in a row. She scored 23 points with seven made three-pointers last Wednesday against New College of Florida and then had seven points in Sunday's victory against Ave Maria.
