Bud Pough joined the ASUN Conference Office in June 2022 and serves as the Assistant Commissioner for Member Services.
In his role, Pough serves as the primary compliance administrator for the ASUN membership. His duties include supporting ASUN members with comprehensive rules education related to NCAA legislation as well as supporting with the application of ASUN compliance policy. Additionally, Pough oversees the processing of institutional reports of NCAA violations, National Letter of Intent program, hardship petitions, Student Assistance Fund (SAF), and ASUN grants.
Prior to his time with the ASUN, Bud spent the first half of 2022 with the Georgia State Athletics Department serving as a compliance specialist. At Georgia State, he supported the athletic department with rules education and monitoring activities for fifteen sports.
Beginning in July 2019, Pough spent two and a half years at the NCAA national office as an assistant director of Academic and Membership Services (AMA). In this role, he specialized in supporting Division I institutions, conferences, and coaches’ associations with the application of NCAA legislation.
Before his work at the national office, Pough spent six years at Clemson University, beginning as a compliance intern and later holding the titles of Compliance Coordinator and Director of Compliance Services. During his time at Clemson, Pough had oversight of the rules education program, established an elite student-athlete program, supported the certification of student-athletes, and handled several areas of monitoring across seventeen sports.
Pough is a 2003 graduate from The Citadel - Military College of South Carolina and majored in business administration. He is a four-year football letter winner at The Citadel. In 2010, he earned a master’s degree in Sport Management from West Virginia University.
A native of Orangeburg, S.C., Pough and his wife, Natalie, have two daughters: Taylor and Olivia.
