Liberty, who was picked second in the preseason coaches poll with one first-place tally, posted an 11-8 (4-1 ASUN) record a year ago and reached the finals of the ASUN Championship for the third consecutive time. This season opens for the Flames on Feb. 15 with a meeting on the road against defending National Champion and preseason No. 1-ranked North Carolina.

    ATLANTA – Emma Hess of Liberty (Player), Alyza Winston of FGCU (Newcomer) and Maddie Millar of North Florida (Freshman) all heard their names called for ASUN Conference Women's Basketball weekly accolades, which were announced Monday by the league office. Hess grabbed her first career award after averaging a team-high 21.0 points while making a squad-best 11 three-pointers last week. Winston helped the Eagles stay atop the ASUN standings with a 16.5-point, three-rebound average in a pair of wins. Millar was a first-time winner after scoring 14 tallies in UNF's victory last Saturday against Jacksonville.

    ATLANTA – The ASUN Conference office announced its 2023 Women's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference awards Thursday, as voted on by the league's eight head coaches. The defending ASUN Champion Jacksonville Dolphins were chosen to repeat as the top team for the upcoming campaign after collecting six first-place votes and 62 total points in the poll. Liberty, the runner-up in 2022, was tabbed for second with 54 points and a first-place vote while Coastal Carolina earned the final first-place vote to rank third in the poll with 49 points.

    ATLANTA – Liberty's Maria Juliana Parra Romero earned the first ASUN Conference Women's Tennis weekly award of the season, the league office announced Wednesday. Romero helped the Flames win the Doubles point against Middle Tennessee with a 6-3 decision on Court 1 with her partner Marina Davtyan. In Singles, she won again on Court 1 in straight sets (6-2, 6-3), and on Sunday versus FIU, Parra Romero was victorious at No. 1 Singles as well.

    ATLANTA – Liberty teammates Jordan Bailey and Pien Steenbergen were joined by FGCU's Sha Carter as award recipients during this week's edition of ASUN Conference Women's Basketball honors, the league office announced Monday. Bailey (Player) was the Flames' leading scorer during their 2-0 week by averaging 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. Her efforts helped the squad upend Limestone and Pac-12 member Washington last week. Carter (Newcomer) netted 16 points with a game-high six assists and three rebounds inside Memorial Coliseum to help take down SEC foe Kentucky on the road, and Steenbergen (Freshman) posted career highs for points (11), rebounds (8) and three-pointers made (3) against the Saints.
