JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville's Haley Yount, Bellarmine's Kylie Van Hoy and Lipscomb's Sydney Strenger earned this week's Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Volleyball honors, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Yount helped the Dolphins go 2-1 in the opening weekend of the season with strong offensive and defensive performances. The sophomore recorded 18 blocks for an average of 1.5 per set and accounted for 65% of the team's total blocks. She totaled 35 kills (2.92 per set) at the Crimson Tide Invitational while hitting .680 against UAB, Alabama and UNC Asheville. Van Hoy helped boost the Knights offense with 109 total assists in the team's three-match weekend. The Loogootee, Ind., native average 10.90 assists per set, reaching 30+ assists in each contest. Strenger had a .524 hitting percentage across matchups with No. 1 Nebraska, No. 7 Kentucky and Seton Hall. She only committed four errors on 42 swings and reached 15 kills against the Pirates.
