Lipscomb Erupts In Victory over Blue Mountain College

THE SHORT STORY
Lipscomb dominated in a 123-60 victory over Blue Mountain College on Saturday afternoon in its final home non-conference matchup. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Lipscomb got out to a quick 8-0 lead, forcing an early Blue Mountain timeout. Lipscomb continued to dominate, getting out to a 16-5 advantage just before the first media timeout of the game. 
 
Out of the timeout, the Bisons extended a 17-2 run for a 30-7 advantage at the under-12 media timeout. 
   
The Bisons were shooting above 60%, but slowed down over the next several minutes, missing seven-straight field goals, but held onto a 34-11 advantage with eight minutes left in the half. 
 
Lipscomb picked things back up out of the timeout with back-to-back buckets from Grant Asman and Charlie Williams. 
   
With four minutes left in the first frame, seven Bisons had scored, and 10 Bisons had seen the floor. 
 
The Bisons went on to hold a 57-22 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play. 
   
After settling into the half, Blue Mountain College went on its biggest run of the day, a 7-0 run over just 45 seconds, prompting a Lipscomb timeout as the Toppers cut the lead 59-31. 
 
Out of the timeout, the Bisons made back-to-back triples, getting back on track for a 67-35 advantage at the under-16 timeout. 
   
Lipscomb continued on a 12-2 run, getting out to its largest lead of the contest, 81-39, with 12:41 left to play. 
 
The Bisons continued to dominate the hardwood, running out to a 113-58 advantage on 62% shooting with 3:50 left to play. 
 
Lipscomb went on to take a 123-60 victory in its last game before breaking for Christmas. 
 
HERD NOTES
  • Charlie Williams was Lipscomb's leading scorer with 20 points. Eight total Bisons scored in double-digits. 
  • The Bisons connected on 22 three-pointers, just one shy of the program record
  • Esmeraldo scored 15 points and added 12 assists for his third double-double of the season
  • The Bisons shot 60% and held the Toppers to 35%
  • Lipscomb's 123 points rank second in program history for points in a game, behind a 126-point performance during the 2016-17 season
  • Luke Carter scored a career-high 10 points
