JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida and North Florida Athletics announced Monday that Director of Athletics
Nick Morrow has signed a contract extension through June 30, 2031.
Morrow, who was named the seventh Director of Athletics in North Florida Athletics history on May 28, 2021, was elevated to Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics in the midst of his fifth year at the head of the department.
"I'm incredibly blessed and honored to continue serving as Director of Athletics at the University of North Florida," Morrow said. "This extension is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our coaches, staff, student-athletes and the entire Osprey community."
North Florida Athletics has experienced unprecedented success under the leadership of Morrow. The department has eclipsed record numbers in both fundraising and donor count every year. Under Morrow, North Florida Athletics has surpassed $20 million raised in the last four years with record totals set in ticket sales, sponsorships, external events, grants, concessions and licensing revenue.

Morrow guided the department through a record-shattering fundraising year in 2024-25. North Florida Athletics raised an all-time high of $8.07 million from 2,893 donors, setting a new department fundraising record. For the third-consecutive year, North Florida Athletics surpassed 2,800 donors—a new milestone by the department. Furthermore, UNF has celebrated record-setting Giving Days for six straight years.
The success has allowed North Florida Athletics to significantly enhance its resources for student-athletes as well as the profile of its facilities. Resources in the areas of athletic training, strength and conditioning, mental health, mental performance, academics and nutrition have all increased significantly over the past four years to assist in the holistic development of every student-athlete. Morrow has been involved in spearheading renovations to every athletic facility on campus. Under his leadership, North Florida Athletics completed projects that include elevated LED lighting at every facility, upgrades to multiple sound systems and video boards and the renovation of the Texana Bank Suite and CSI Companies Court at UNF Arena.
Other projects include a renovated weight room, athletic training room and field replacement at Hodges Stadium, expanded broadcast capabilities to every facility, and the expansion of premium seating and fan experience options across all sports.
The renovations and expansions to the locker room and team spaces for men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball at UNF Arena are set to be completed later this month, in addition to recent announcements to renovate Harmon Stadium and Hodges Stadium.
North Florida Athletics has experienced vast success from all its 19 athletic programs with 15 ASUN Championship team titles and 19 individual titles between regular season and postseason. The Ospreys have totaled 22 combined NCAA postseason appearances across 11 programs under Morrow.
North Florida Athletics earned its highest Division I era finish and paced all Atlantic Sun Conference institutions in the 2024-25 Learfield Directors' Cup competition. North Florida placed 114th out of 303 Division I institutions and sixth out of 13 in the state of Florida. North Florida posted the top finish and aggregate score in the conference and ranked 43 spots ahead of the next closest member. It is the highest in Division I program history and eclipsed a 119th-place finish in 2020-21.
In 2024-25, men's soccer, beach volleyball and softball all captured ASUN Championship titles and received automatic qualification to the NCAA Tournament. Smilla Kolbe earned First Team All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
On August 26, 2025, Jacksonville City Council passed a resolution honoring the success of North Florida Athletics women's programs, highlighted by Kolbe, softball's Allison Benning and women's soccer Zara Siassi combining to earn nine All-American selections in the 2024-25 season.
North Florida Athletics has elevated the academic standard, leading to consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference Presidents' Academic Cup, which is awarded annually by the conference to the member institution with the highest academic achievement among its student-athletes. North Florida Athletics has achieved the highest Academic Progress Rate (APR) in the ASUN Conference each of the last four years.
UNF has continued its athletic department's streak of now 28-straight semesters of its student-athletes posting above a 3.0 department-wide grade point average (GPA). The student-athletes' most recent success includes a 3.51 department GPA for the 2024-25 school year with all athletic programs achieving at least a 3.11 average.
