ATLANTA – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced the 2024 Men's Soccer preseason awards on Wednesday, as voted on by the league's head coaches. Lipscomb, who garnered seven first-place votes, was tabbed the top team entering the new season and collected all three superlative honors.
Bellarmine, the 2023 ASUN Championship Runner-Up, was selected second in the preseason coaches poll followed by Stetson in third. FGCU rounded out the top half of the rankings.
The Bisons' Javanne Smith was tabbed the 2024 Preseason Player of the Year after earning the ASUN Tournament MVP honor last season. He ranked fourth in the ASUN with nine goals while playing in 18 games and helping Lipscomb win the 2023 league crown. George Macready played in 16 games with 15 starts last season and enters the fall campaign as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Macready helped the Bisons to three shutouts in 2023. A Second Team All-ASUN and All-Freshman Team selection last fall, Juan Carlos Rodriguez is the 2024 Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year. He won Goalkeeper of the Week three times in 2023 and led the conferencce with 59 saves.
