Stetson Wins Fifth ASUN Women's Tennis Championship After Defeating FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. - For the second time in three years, and the fifth time in the program's history, Stetson captured the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Championship after defeating FGCU, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon.

The FGCU Tennis Complex in Fort Myers, Fla., hosted the event for the third time overall and the second time in the last three seasons. The day's Doubles point went to the Hatters after the combos of Cheri Darley/Alanna DiFrancesco and Noa Cohen/Zali Morris were victorious on Courts 2 and 3, respectively. DiFrancesco, a Second Team All-ASUN selection, put Stetson ahead 2-0 on the scoreboard with her 6-2, 6-2 triumph in Singles on Court 3. FGCU put a point on the board after Amelia Kopel closed things out in straight sets on Court 6 with scores of 6-4, 6-0. Noa Cohen defeated Ida Ferding, 6-2, 6-3, on Court 5 to give the top-seeded Hatters a 3-1 advantage. Nadejda Maslova clinched the victory for Stetson on Court 3 with a three-set defeat of the Eagles' Isabella Colmenares by scores of 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Stetson earned the league's automatic qualifier to represent the ASUN in the 2024 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship. The Hatters await the selection show which airs on NCAA.com Tuesday, April 30.
