Two #ASUNMLAX Student-Athletes Recognized With Inside Lacrosse All-American Honors
ATLANTA – Inside Lacrosse released its 2023 Division I Men's Lacrosse All-Americans list with Bellarmine's Kyle Playsted and Jacksonville's Troy Hettinger, representing the ASUN Conference by garnering honorable mention distinctions.
The ASUN Player of the Year (Playsted) and Defensive Player of the Year (Hettinger) were a force for their squads all season. Playsted rewrote the ASUN and BU program record books in 2023 after tallying 79 points on 40 goals and 39 assists, setting ASUN single-season records in both points and assists and the Knights' record for career points, assists and sits second in career goals. Playsted helped the Knights to a program-best 11 victories this season and a return trip to the ASUN Championship Semifinals.
Hettinger, who was recently drafted 12th overall by the PLL Chrome Lacrosse Club, racked up 46 ground balls and caused 27 turnovers on the nation's second-ranked defensive squad in caused turnovers (11.94). Both of Hettinger's marks ranked second on the Dolphins while adding a pair of goals to help the Dolphins go on an eight-game winning streak as JAX turned in a 12-4 record and an ASUN Championship berth during the 2023 campaign.
