ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Isaiah Rogers of Kennesaw State made ASUN Conference Indoor Track and Field history as he became the first National Champion, winning the Weight Throw at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday night.
Rogers came out of the gate to grab an early lead with a toss of 23.12m before Alabama's Bobby Colantino snatched the lead on the fifth throw with a mark of 23.40. Rogers stepped up on his final throw to clinch the victory, landing a toss of 24.23m. The Smyrna, Ga., native, is only the fourth student-athlete to earn First Team All-America honors at an Indoor Championship and the first since 2019 when Liberty's Alejandro Zapata placed sixth in the 400m.
The Flames were represented by Warren Barrett and Kennedy Sauder at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with both earning 15th-place finishes in their respective events. Barrett was the first to represent the ASUN on the national stage for Shot Put at the Indoor Championship and landed a toss of 18.06m. Sauder made his second straight appearance and cleared a height of 2.15m in the High Jump. Both earned Second Team All-America honors for their top-15 finishes as it is the second consecutive year Sauder earned the recognition.
