On July 1, 2023, Jeff Bacon began serving as the fifth full-time commissioner of the Atlantic Sun Conference after being selected for the role by the ASUN Presidents Council in February of the same year. Bacon joined the ASUN after 19 years with the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
Bacon's responsibilities with the MAC included oversight of Football and External Relations, management of the MAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament, coordination of NCAA Championship bids and events, strategic planning, revenue generation, and management of affiliate memberships. He also served as a liaison to the MAC Council of Directors of Athletics and as Director of the MAC Academic Consortium. He is the former Chair of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Committee and was a member of the Akron Sports Alliance.
Before joining the MAC, Bacon practiced law in Independence, Ohio. A native of Solon, Ohio, Bacon earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice from Kent State University and his Juris Doctorate from The University of Akron School of Law. He currently resides in Saint Augustine, Florida, with his wife Jessica, and three children, Caleb (22), Chloe (13) and Cecily (7).
