Lipscomb & NJIT Compete in First Meets of 2020 this Past Weekend for Men's Indoor #ASUNTF

ATLANTA, Ga. - Lipscomb and NJIT competed on Friday and Saturday to continue the 2019-20 season of ASUN Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field. On Friday, the Highlanders took to Staten Island for the third time this season to participate in the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational. The Bisons were in Birmingham, Ala., for two separate meets to get their season started; the UAB Blazer Invitational on Friday, and the UAB Vulcan Invite on Saturday.

The Highlanders ended Friday's meet with several top-10 finishes. Freshman Jacob Leigh finished second in the 60m (7.05), fourth in the 200m (22.54) and 10th in the High Jump (1.83m). His High Jump performance was the best in the conference this week. Leigh was also part of a 4x400 Relay team with Matt Bacchi, Eugene Graves III and Ryan Budhu that finished third with a time of 3:24.96 for the ASUN's best time of the week. Reyden Davies also recorded a league-leading performance by crossing the line fifth in the Mile at 4:25.60 while Andrew Shenoda came in ninth with a time of 2:46.35 in the 1000m. Four other Highlanders recorded top ASUN performances: Thomas Van Sader (400m, 53.64; 60H, 9.24), David Munera (800m, 2:02.00), Samuel Manu (Long Jump, 5.52m), Edward Kasmin (Shot Put, 11.51m).

Three Bisons recorded top-10 finishes at the UAB Blazer Invitational as Lipscomb competed in its first meets of the season. Ahmed Amaar's 6.93 time in the 60m placed him 15th and gave him the top event performance in the league this weekend. Patrick Smith finished sixth in the 3000m while Brody Beiler came in ninth. Lipscomb also performed well at Saturday's Vulcan Invite which was also in Birmingham. Amarr ended the 200m at 22.40 to place eighth as Alex Tirado came in 14th at 22.61. Nathan Morgan had a 12th-place finish in the Mile. Kindrick McLemore secured the league's best Weight Throw distance at 12.94m.
