Brinson registered a new Highlanders program record with 37 points in the win at North Florida while James had a pair of 16-point performances to lead the Lions to a road win.

Homesley led the Flames averaging 22.0 points in a pair of road wins to open conference play while Gagliardi went 8-of-14 from three-point range to earn his first career weekly honor.

    ATLANTA, Ga. - NJIT sophomore forward Souleymane Diakite was named the ASUN Men's Basketball Player of the Week while Lipscomb freshman guard KJ Johnson captured the Newcomer of the Week award it was announced by the league office Monday. Diakite registered a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) at UConn while Johnson, who won his second award of the season, led the Bisons with 17 points at No. 8 Auburn.

Liberty continues to make a name for itself on the national stage with its 14-0 record, extending its record-breaking start to the season. The Flames are the lone NCAA Division I squad with 14 wins on the year and are one of just three teams still undefeated on the year while their 14-game winning streak is also the best in the nation. Liberty is currently ranked No. 17 in the NCAA NET rankings and No. 2 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll.

    ATLANTA, Ga. - Liberty senior forward Scottie James was named the ASUN Men's Basketball Player of the Week while Stetson freshman center Mahamadou Diawara took home the Newcomer of the Week award it was announced by the league office Monday. James earned MVP honors at the DC Holiday Hoops Fest Tournament en route to his second accolade this season and third of his career. Diawara joined teammate Rob Perry as the two Hatters to win Newcomer of the Week honors after averaging a double-double in a pair of games last week.
  • Liberty Claims DC Holiday Hoops Fest Title; Improves to 14-0

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (LibertyFlames.com) - Liberty improved to 14-0 with an emphatic 80-67 win over Akron to claim the DC Holiday Hoops Fest Tournament title. According to the NET Rankings, this was Liberty's toughest opponent yet this season, as the Zips came into the game ranked No. 51 and the Flames shot 66 percent from the field to come away with the victory. Scottie James was named Most Valuable Player for the tournament. With the victory, Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz has 86 career victories, making him Liberty's all-time winningest player in school history, surpassing Lovell Cabbil Jr., who set the record last season with 85 wins.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (liberty.edu/flames) - Liberty improved to 13-0 with a 66-54 win over Towson in the first round of the DC Holiday Hoops Fest Tournament. The Flames will now face Akron in the championship game on Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Entertainment & Sports Arena.

The Preseason Player of the Year is coming off of a 2018-19 campaign that saw Homesley collect ASUN All-Conference and All-Tournament nods en route to Liberty's first NCAA Tournament victory over Mississippi State. The North Carolina native scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed four rebounds in the Flames victory.

    ATLANTA, Ga. - Kennesaw State's Tyler Hooker and Liberty's Myo Baxter-Bell were named the ASUN Men's Basketball Players of the Week while Jacksonville's Diante Wood earned the Newcomer of the Week honor it was announced Monday by the league office. Hooker scored 27 points helping the Owls to their first win of the season while Baxter-Bell helped lead the Flames to a win at Vanderbilt and keep their undefeated record alive (12-0). Wood led the Dolphins to a win in their lone game with 11 rebounds and 50 percent shooting from the field.
