JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) has announced the weekly award winners for Cross Country, Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer and Volleyball for Tuesday, September, 8.
CROSS COUNTRY
Men's Runner of the Week and Men's Freshman of the Week: Kobey Yates, Lipscomb
Yates led the Bisons to a first-place team finish in his first collegiate race at the Belmont/Vandy Opener after crossing the finish line first with a 5k program record time of 15:06.72.
Women's Runner of the Week: Simone Mouras, Queens
Mouras notched a top-five finish at the Elon Opener, placing fifth in a 146-runner field with a 4k time of 14:25.4.
Women's Freshman of the Week: Rhyen Foley, FGCU
Foley placed 30th overall out of 168 competitors in the Florida Intercollegiate Women’s 5k, clocking in at 18:37.65. Foley was the third-highest finishing Eagle in the event and assisted FGCU to a fifth-place team finish.
MEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week: Anton Khelil, North Florida
Anton Khelil was named Player of the Week after recording two goals and one assist on the week in North Florida's pair of road wins against South Florida and in-city rival, Jacksonville. In the Ospreys match against South Florida, the senior helped limit the Bulls to no shots on goal for the first time since 2009.
Defensive Player of the Week: Gavin Crowe, Bellarmine
Gavin Crowe was named Defensive Player of the Week after helping lead the Knights to a 1-0 victory against conference opponent Stetson. Crowe helped limit the Hatters to just one shot on goal and helped Bellarmine post its second shutout in four games this season.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Luciano Natoli, North Florida
Luciano Natoli earned Goalkeeper of the Week after allowing zero goals against South Florida and just one against Jacksonville. After playing a full 90-minutes, Natoli earned the first shutout win of the season and 14th of his career.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week: Paige McSwigan, North Florida
Paige McSwigan was named Player of the Week after the Ospreys claimed a victory against Jacksonville State and a draw against Alabama A&M. McSwigan posted four goals, good for eight points on the week for North Florida. Her hatrick against Jacksonville State marked the first by an Osprey since 2016.
Defensive Player of the Week: Natalia Carapazza, Lipscomb
Natalia Carapazza was named Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row after the Bisons defeated Tennessee Tech 1-0. Carapazza led a defense that only allowed five shots on goal.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Sundell Woodard, Lipscomb
Sundell Woodard was named Goalkeeper of the Week for the second consecutive week after allowing no goals against Tennessee Tech.
VOLLEYBALL
Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week: Delaney Hanowell, West Florida
Delaney Hanowell was named Player of the week and Defensive Player of the Week after totaling 25 blocks across 10 sets without committing a block error. She averaged 2.50 blocks per set and recorded at least seven blocks in all three matches on the week. She averaged 3.00 kills, 2.50 blocks and 4.50 points per set while hitting .453.
Setter of the Week: Kelsey Schenck, Lipscomb
Kelsey Schenck totaled 11 set assists, 33 digs and five service aces on the Bisons two-win week that included wins over Florida State and South Alabama to be named Setter of the Week. She averaged 3.33 kills per game, 11.0 digs per set and 1.33 total blocks per game.
Freshman of the Week: Maju Hildebrand, FGCU
Maju Hildebrand was named Freshman of the Week after posting 26 kills, and 19 digs on the week for the Eagles. She averaged 28.5 points, 3.25 kills per set, and 2.38 digs per set.
